Bringing Woodturners Together Since 1996
Christchurch Woodturners Association is a welcoming club for people who enjoy working with wood, learning practical skills, and creating beautiful handcrafted pieces.
Whether you are completely new to woodturning, returning to the craft after time away, or an experienced turner looking to connect with others, you’ll find a supportive community ready to share ideas, knowledge and encouragement.
From bowls, platters and vessels to pens, ornaments and decorative pieces, woodturning is a rewarding craft that combines patience, creativity and hands-on skill.
New members and visitors are always welcome.
Members Creations
Woodturning can be practical, artistic, decorative or all three.
Our members create a wide range of pieces, each one shaped by the character of the timber and the skill of the person at the lathe. No two pieces are ever quite the same, which is part of what makes woodturning so special.

As a club, we bring together people of all experience levels to share techniques, solve problems, demonstrate skills and celebrate what can be made from a simple piece of timber.
Members can take part in regular club activities, learn from more experienced turners, attend demonstrations and workshops, and enjoy being part of an active woodturning community here in Christchurch.
Whether your goal is to make your first bowl or refine a more advanced technique, the club is a place to ask questions, have a go and keep improving.

A Club For All Levels
You don’t need years of experience or a fully equipped workshop to get involved.
Many of our members started with curiosity and a willingness to learn. Christchurch Woodturners Association is here to support beginners as well as experienced woodturners, with opportunities to learn safely, build confidence and be inspired by the work of others.
Our members include hobby turners, skilled craftspeople, creative makers and people who simply enjoy the satisfaction of working with timber.
The Dedicated Committee
Christchurch Woodturners Association is a registered charity and not-for-profit organisation, founded to support and encourage the craft of woodturning in our community.
Our committee is made up of dedicated members who volunteer their time to help run the association, organise club activities, support new members and keep the club moving forward.
